Indirect Tax Technology Lead
Job Summary:Trane Technologies seeks an Indirect Tax Technology Lead to join the EMEA Indirect Tax Team based in Dublin, Ireland. The main goal of this position is to identify opportunities to increase efficiencies through standardization and automation of our tax processes and systems across regions (EMEA, LATAM and APAC). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to propose and implement innovative solutions to support the company in its objective to be compliant with the indirect Tax regulations across the globe. The position supports the implementation and the tax configuration of multiple applications such as Vertex O Series tax engine and Oracle R12. Also, the position supports existing tools for transaction processing, VAT cashflow optimization and VAT returns. The successful candidate must be able to work cross-functionally with other teams to support the company in completing business-critical projects, e.g. e-invoicing, continuous business controls, data analytics, etc.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the roll out of Vertex O Series and Oracle R12, including but not limited to:
- Partnering with the other functions to identify and communicate the applicable business and indirect tax requirements
- Integrating, designing, configuring, and implementing Vertex tax engine for enterprise applications and billing systems for both sales and purchasing activities
- Validating/correcting the transaction flows and tax treatment during the testing cycles
- Prepare functional specification documents for tax engine integration with multiple systems
- Advisory support with the review of the VAT determination tool (Vertex)
- Develop processes for ongoing maintenance of global indirect tax logic rules in tax engine
- Provide guidance and support the business with systems and process impact resulting from changes in global tax rules/regulations
- Support with the deployment of a VAT compliance software and testing of the solution, including real time reporting and digitization projects (such as SAF-T, e-invoicing, etc.)
- Support with the on-boarding of the new VAT activities in the central EMEA VAT Operations Team at each go-live of Oracle R12/Vertex
- Support with Oracle upgrades and regression testing of the Vertex tax engine where applicable
- Support other functions Indirect tax reviews and technical support of cross-functional projects such as the set-up of an efficient trading platform model, an efficient Procure to Pay function, integration of a new business, etc.
- Manage projects and assignments with third-party vendor product teams (i.e. Oracle, Vertex, and other Tax partners) to optimize the use of the solutions and resolve issues, if any
- Monitor legislative, case law, and other changes in VAT guidance or practice, determine the impact to the company and suggesting implementation measures.
- Tax Technology training to the team as required as well as other stakeholders
Qualifications:
- Degree in economics (or IT), master level – Preferably with a specialisation in Tax
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with large-scale Tax Technology projects and deployments in a multinational environment
- Knowledge of Oracle ERP required and knowledge of Vertex O Series Tax engine preferred
- Strong Indirect Tax knowledge required
- Experience with VAT compliance matters
- Experience with implementation of real time reporting and digitization projects (e.g. e-invoicing, SAF-T, data analytics)
- Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
