Trane Technologies Residential HVAC and Supply business offers a broad portfolio of energy efficient heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, air quality products, home automation and parts support.  We ensure our customers are safe and comfortable, while reducing the impact on our shared environment.  Our brands include Trane, American Standard, RunTru and Ameristar. 

 

We are currently hiring a Embedded Software Architect to join our Residential HVAC Controls Engineering group.  We are looking for a highly motivated individual that is excited about software and firmware design architecture.  You will create modular designs for HVAC applications. Interacting with firmware/software teams globally partnering with key stakeholders and product owners, defining strategies for future planning. This role will have the opportunity to help us move towards new digital technology, supporting energy analytics, which will in the future help us meet our companies sustainability goals. Work as a leader and mentor with development teams. 


Responsibilities:

  • Architect security and privacy by design and secure-by-default into software applications for embedded systems
  • Ability to participate in the project planning, sizing of development tasks
  • Ability to develop software tools and simulation to support product development
  • Work with manufacturing to develop software test strategies to support advanced controls development.
  • Review and recommend best coding practices in an attempt to maximize maintenance and reliability

 

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • 8+ years of software and/or firmware development experience
  • 3+ years architecture experience
  • Strong embedded C, C++ skills. Embedded assembly code and embedded Linux skills are desired
  • Strong understanding of electronic principles as applicable to microcontrollers

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong Proficiency in scripting languages such as Ruby, Lua etc preferred
  • Experience using RTOS, bare metal and Linux design methodologies and implementation.
  • Experience with multi-thread, multi-process, multi-core processor application development.
  • Experience in conducting software code review and experience with software Static Analysis tools.
  • Experience with using databases in embedded software such as SQLLite

Base Pay Range (for Colorado Residents):  $110,000 - $165,000

Additional Compensation: Bonus
