This position is for a bright, energetic “big data” developer with strong data pipeline experience and associated language development skills. You will be responsible for building out and expanding the back-end data processing layer for our home automation and thermostat processing systems. You will focus on Java and/or Go development in conjunction with Kafka and stream processing technologies. You will work with team members to expand and improve the stream processing ecosystem for device and data management.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and participate in architecture and design and testing test big data processing services using Java and/or Go in an Agile environment.
  • Work with Kafka as the message bus / data pipeline layer.
  • Build stream processing modules to handle business logic around data events.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, including pair programming.
  • Actively communicate with test team and marketing teams
  • Have a “DevOps” mindset and experience working in an environment that is focused on delivery of customer based solutions.
  • Constantly update technical knowledge and skills and share with team.

Qualifications:

  • Able and willing to quickly learn new technologies and master them
  • 5+ years data pipeline / streaming experience
  • 5+ years Java/Go or similar data processing language experience
  • Strong background with unit/acceptance testing, and refactoring
  • Experience measuring and building performant, scalable services
  • Experience with software revision control systems (Git preferred)
  • Problem solving, task prioritization, excellent communication, administration and organization skills
  • Experience with software design and analysis techniques and tools
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • Experience with Linux/Unix and shell environments

 

Desired Experience: (not required… what you will learn if you don’t already know it)

  • Experience with background job processing
  • Experience with associated languages in our stack: Ruby, Python, Javascript
  • MySQL and/or Postgres database experience
  • Experience with Docker

Base Pay Range (for Colorado Residents): $120,000 - $175,000

Additional Compensation: Bonus
